Just want to verify. Does this look right as far as size goes? It seems awfully small to me, but it was denoted as a Carp hook.

Had quite a few hard bites last night on bait of questionable sticktoitness. So for now I'm blaming the loose bait, but the hook is suspect in my eyes.

Please clear it of all charges so I can focus my experimentation elsewhere.

It seems I'm going backward. 1st outing with no research I hung and banked, but not landed a nice carp. From there on out it's been turtles and broken lines progressing (regressing) to consistently stolen bait.

The common factor here is me, so I share blame in all scenarios. laugh

Hook looks perfect. I would blame the loose bait.

Looks good. I use a size 6 usually. If I am in an area that I know has large carp, I use a size 4. I also use braid for my hook link.

Thanks for the feedback. I will carry on and maybe revert to just using frozen corn. I have one more batch of chocolate dough bait to try.

Dough bait is almost impossible to set up on a hair rig unless it is the consistency of a boile, in other words-solid instead of dough. Corn is the way to go. I will send you a pm with another good way to go.

For dough bait on a hair, put a plastic corn, a bead, or a button on the hair and put the dough around thst.

Nice suggestion. Kind of a mini-method.

Your suggestion worked better than it seemed like it was going to. Funny story, last night I used this new bait and caught my typical one catfish (though my bait never got stolen). The funny part is, a kid next to me who was going for catfish with hot dogs caught a carp. His first ever carp.

personally i like my hair shorter all other parts look good .the mono looks to be a little thin so make sure you use your drag when fight a fish to keep from busting off

The line is 14 lbs, but that's just what I use as leader. I have dropped down to 10 lbs on my main line with my drag set to readily allow a run. I have had zero luck with the hair rig, so adjustments/abandonment are in my future.
