Buddies engine acted up some he took it to shop to have checked out!! 200hp e rude fiecht motor. Cyl.#2 no compression. Mech. said 45oo-5k.Oh yr. is2000.I have looked up those engines, [ not good] . He called a few shops one if was theirs wouldnt waste a dime on it.He has owned 3yrs. No problems till this. So you engine guru's give. You're thoughts.Rebuid or??

A Fiecht isn't worth a 5K repair bill.

He should have sold it 3 years ago!  I saw one on the Loop in Lufkin the other day and pointed it out to my wife.

Just, No. Get a used Evinrude/Johnson carburetor motor. OR an EFI Merc or Yamaha & go fishing again. He could try to sell parts off it. There's still a small following back east (Tennessee,North Carolina,South Carolina,Georgia,Alabama) for those motors. I wouldn't spend a dime on a FICHT motor. Hard to find a shop that'll even touch one & parts are scarce if even available at all.

Might try d & b boat repair near desoto if he decided to rebuild it.I wouldn't D&B is closed unfortunately. Charlies in Alvarado is still going and so is Trevor's in Red Oak last I saw. Only heard bad things about those outboards.

Dont waste a dime on it. Aint worth much at all being a ficht. As far as a repower on a budget, Ive got a 200 EFI Mariner/Merc for 3500. Havent heard from ya in a while Pat hope youre well

I'd be concerned about not addressing the root cause of the problem (no compression); repairing it, and having it go out again. I had a Ficht 90, which was great; but heard that 150hp and above were [censored]. get a used Yami!

Buy a good used motor, Fitch motors were lemons for the most part. I wouldn't waste my money on repairing it
