If you hook two units into the box will it transfer any data between the two units.

What black box and what units? If your speaking of a StructureScan or 3D module and HDS units, then yes, they will transfer/sync waypoints, share transducers, and if at least Gen2 units will share a map card.

I do not have the units hooked into the black box and they share information. My fishing partner and I move his to mine and mine to his. The units are only connected by the yellow wire and his unit got all of my way points and mine received all of his. I now have way points on lakes I have never fished and he is the same.

Yes as long as they are connected through Ethernet, either directly or through one of the modules such as StructureScan or 3D module, they will sync all waypoints between the units

So if I understand your response correctly. If I hook two units into a SS3d box both units will share information
without having a Ethernet cable running between the two units.
If that is correct i can solve a lack of Ethernet ports on my 7 units

I have a 9 at the back which has two Ethernet ports. One will be taken up by connecting to the box.
The other port will run to one of the 7 up front which has only one port.
I want to run two 7s up front but not enough ports unless I use an Ethernet cable from the box to it.
If that will work Im good to go.

Thanks

You can connect all HDS units to the 3D module or connect one port of the HDS9 to the module and other port to the HDS7, and second HDS7 to 3D module, either way will work the same. You will have full waypoint syncing, map sharing, 2D transducer sharing and StrucureScan on both units. Will also have the 3D option on any units that are at least Gen3's.
