Is it safe to run the boat Roads that come off of a down river from Johnsons? And is it worth fishing so shallow.? ? Full pool doesnt look full enough. Thanks

Sleeper, short answer: It depends on the boat road. I couldn't get on plane the other day on the boat road in Old Folks Playground, the motor was burrying in the dead salvinia muck on the bottom, and my boat is only a ZX190. The main lake has been fine, the backwaters have been hit or miss. But, the lake is definitely low, I don't care what gauge shows it at full pool, it may be for elevation purposes, but it aint for bass boat navigation purposes.

As far as whether it's worth fishing shallow: It just depends on where the bait is on the given day. I caught some good schoolers 3-5lbers the other day in 92 degree water temp in about a foot of water in the middle of the day on a a spook.

Hope this helps

Running the lake isnt that bad. Just make sure ur insurance is up to date. Plenty of stumps in the A, K, C that are just bout in play. I dang sure wouldnt run down K boat lane at all. A boat lane is sketchy around S curve. C has a bunch of stumps around Potters boat launch on the edge of boat lane. Alligator bayou will ruin ur day also if not ur season with some the huge stumps foot under the water. Most importantly its mainyl when ur getting on plane at this level. It drops another 6in then it gets foxy. Im probably one of few who have fished the lake when u could barely launch a boat.

It was a fun day on Caddo today. We had a decent number of bites up shallow. Couple of good fish in the boat and also missed 2 more nice ones at the boat. They ate a frog and a bladed jig. Had a couple pitching T rig too. Fished looked super healthy. Lots ok f bait up shallow. Nice day to be out there.

We had a good time. Took a good friend out there for his first trip there so it was nice seeing him enjoy the lake. We actually hit Ellison Creek on the way home as well and had a few there too. They ate a frog a bit there as well.

We fished our club's night tourney Friday from midnight til 8am. We had 29 anglers and only 8 caught keeper fish. Winner had 3 overs and 1 under for 12lbs. We did have some big bass- 8,7,5s weighed in. Guys ran all the way to the river and I heard them talk about it being shallow but don't know exactly where. Chatterbaits and ribbit frogs seemed to be the best lures among those who caught fish.

Theres a stump at C43 to C44 I believe. It is almost in the middle of the lane. Thats definitely not the only one on C run. I have marked several out in front of the house with fiberglass driveway rods with the reflective tape on them.
At this level an especially if we drop a little more you need to know what you are doing and where to stay when on plane.
As far as the bite right now Im having a tough time putting down the frog over the hydrilla. Its just too easy and too fun to fish. Those topwater blowups are addictive.

I went out of Shady Glade yesterday evening, stayed near there and got on a decent horny toad bite. The edge of pads off boat lanes, 2 - 3 fow was the deal for me. I know the morning bite is way better.

I didnt have any issues with the boat lanes near by but noticed it got risky with just a little deviation from the markers. The boat ramp was a pain loading, was tricky getting my trailer to sit right.

All in all a good time, hadnt fished the lake in years. Other than being low it looks in good shape, better than I remember it being in a while.

Thats not the only one in that area. C is one of the worst for stumps.

What is the usual route to 'main lake' from Shady Glade? My path was A to F, but I think F was not navigable (at least not for me. Did I miss a turn somewhere? roflmao

Sorry Mudd, just got this. I day-tripped from DFW out there on Saturday. It was more of a general question, and I was looking to get out to the Mooringsport Bridge.
