While fishing for the six basic sunfish do you use a leader!

Do you use a leader.

I voted no as I have been using straight braid, Sufix Nanobraid.

Its diameter is so small, I'm not at all certain what fluoro or mono I'd join to it that'd be the proper size. The braid is so wispy small, I can't imagine it is visible.

*** I see some smaller sizes in this new co-polymer line, Sufix Advance, and it is available down to 4 lbs. It could be an interesting line for ultralight reels. I might spool some up on a reel next time I replace line.

I have my real spooled with 6 or 8 lb mono.
Do not see much difference in catch rate with perch between these.

Well...kind of yes...I put a swivel about 6-8 inches above the hook, and a small barrel weight above the swivel. The main reason is to help prevent line twists & I like the hook/bait to free float...

I do not target sunfish. I mainly use a leader when I fish!

It depends on my rig. In my handline of course. 20 lbs line is way to heavy for bluegill.

On the fly rod, of course: by definition you need a leader on a fly rig.

On my cane poles I use leaders. Dacron is the main line coming off the pole to a Perfection loop. From there 8 lbs line to whatever length.

On my sinning reels, straight 8 lbs mono. I do a lot of drifting and trolling I need something much stronger than 4 or 6 lbs line.

If my spinning gear is rigged with 10 or 12 lbs mono, then, yes, I use a leader. It always depends. I use both wit hand without a leader depending on the situation and set up.
