Someone tied a few of these on another forum and I really liked the look of the pattern. I decided to do a few of my own.

The pink legged ones have small tungsten dumbbells. The orange ones small brass. I used glass seed beads for the eyes.

Water testing proved the tungsten ones swam great. Not great swimming for the brass ones. I removed the glass beads and made some out of UV cure. That change made those swim right.

It just takes practice. Find a fly you will use and tie a bunch of them. Then tie a bunch more. Then find another pattern and repeat. This helps learn the fundamentals that you can then use to tie more complicated patterns. The first patterns I tied were woolly buggers, Clouser minnows and Llano bugs. All relatively simple flies with not too many materials.
