Much is made, and correctly so, about the dangers of texting while driving. We are told that level of distraction is equivalent to driving while drinking.

So...on all the live police programs I see officers zipping in and out of city traffic while reading info on their computer screens.

Im a big supporter of law enforcement, but I dont understand how its not equally dangerous for the police to drive and communicate.

The other day I saw a lady on FaceTime while driving. Her car was all beat up too. Idiot.

When I worked for the Sheriffs Office a field deputy wrecked his patrol car and put in his report he was typing on the computer. I asked if it was wise to admit that and he said they have to type while driving to do the job.

It may be equivalent but at least someone who has been drinking has all four eyes on the road. bolt

Bob, how many ounces are in 10 12-ounce beers? How many ounces are in 12 10-ounce beers? A normal can of beer is 12 ounces. A pony bottle is usually seven-eight ounces, in my experience, but Pintail says the ones he buys are 10-oz.

He drinks 12 of the 10-oz beers, thats 120 ounces. If you drunk 10 12-oz beers, thats 120 ounces. He says he drinks 120 ounces of beer and then drives home, claiming he is under a .08.

A concern many in law enforcement share. So far, the technology-impressed decision makers haven't seemed concerned.

In some circles law does not apply to law enforcement officers, i.e, handicap parking, speed limits (both too slow and too fast), stop signs, cutting other drivers off and making turns from the wrong lane, etc.
