I looked them up. Average life span is only 6-8 years.

Why would you bring a long haired mountain dog to Texas, that would be a mighty hot dog this time of year,if you want a rare hard to find dog get you a hanging tree cow dog.

Big dog. I like them. Seem kind of like Mastiffs temperament-wise. My understanding is they’re pretty lazy but somewhat athletic for their size. Good with kids and family. Can be outdoor or indoor dogs, but I’m not sure I’d leave a mountain dog outside in the Texas heat.

I've known several big ranches in Texas that keep them, they'll run off coyotes, hogs, mountain lions, etc. and kill any dumb enough to hang around...never seen any as companion pets.
