Anybody know what the world record for largest kidney stone is? I may be the new record holder with one that 1.6 cm. That's about .63 inches!
The real mystery is how it got from my kidney almost to the bladder before becoming a problem (pain like a horrible death). This thing is too big to pass according to the docs. I'm loaded up on pain meds now and will have to get with my urologist tomorrow to figure out what to do. I'm thinking they will try to blow it up with sonic waves into small pieces.
Pray that I can get thru the night pain free, thanks to the meds.

Feel for you PGR. I would say drink lots for beer and water, but you gotta be careful mixing alcohol and pain meds. What did they give you for pain. Good luck, let us know what you find out.

I had some IV morphine while there and it was great for the pain. Not sure exactly what the prescription is for and the wife is at Kroger getting it filled right now. Maybe I could bum a few of Ratz's stuff if it gets too bad.

A hot bath helps about as much as anything.

I had a 1.4cm about 20 years ago. Shaped like a sand burr. Same here to big to pass, caused total blockage and emergency removal. Had to have a stint put in to keep urinary track from collapsing. The bad part is there are probably more. Hang tough PGR

If they have to go get it, the aftercare trip to remove the stint will be a life changer.... I am passing a 6 mm stone now... passed a similar 6 mm stone in May....had them off and on since I was 28. I have no idea how a stone that large could move down there without you knowing.
Good luck! Praying for you sir.

Look up laser lithotripsy. Ask for that. A stent and then external lithotripsy is a big PIA.

I had one 1 from my bladder that was the size of a native pecan(9 mm x 13 mm).Ultra sonic sound waves didnt work. They had to go in with a laser two different times to get it all. I hope you have a good urologist and a quick recovery.

Feel for you..one of the worst pain Ive ever experienced was kidney stones... morphine helped but was still pretty bad..
Later down the road had a pretty bad case of gall stones and some other stuff going on, that doc gave me Fentanyl and Im pretty sure they could have sawed me in half and would have been good.. made morphine look like Tylenol...
Hopefully they get you fixed up pretty quick.. good luck

I have had them twice, the first time was a year after I had my appendix removed. When I had my appendix removed I walked into the ER doubled over at around 2 am. Amost a year from when my appendix was removed I was hit with kidney stones, I didn't know what was happing and joked that my appendix grew back. It was no joke though and around the same time I was in the back of an ambulance on the way to the ER.
I hope you start feeling better and the Dr. can use the sonic waves tobreal them up. My Dr wanted to play Dig Dug and go up after them with a claw and camera. I never called him back and I finally past them.

I have yet to see one that large, and I do CT in an Emergency Room! that's huge and probably stopping up your ureter. ouch! I've seen strong women bent over in pain and telling me a stone is ten times worse than childbirth!

Well I made it thru the night without any killer-type pain. Now I'm just waiting to talk to my urologist about what he's going to do to attack this thing, and how fast he can do it. Update in a few hours.

Actually the one working my room wasn't bad at all. I was feeling too bad to try to sneek a photo, plus my wife had my phone. Ratz was there but I don't think he took one either, but he can serve to verify.

Dude I thought mine at 12mm was big. Pain like no other and blockage that was causing one kidney to swell. They went in and surgically removed it by breaking into three pieces.
I will warn if you have the Ureteroscopy done the aftermath is not fun. Peeing blood will make you see stars and be thankful their is a handicap bar next to the toilet.
Good luck and hope they get it soon.

Once they get them broken up it'll be no sweat. I'm told at that point it's like passing BB sized chunks of steel wool. Much better than the marble sized chunks of steel wool you were dealing with. Godspeed sir.

Just got home from the Doc's office. This stone is too big to even blast with the sonic waves so they will do a laser scope procedure this Thursday, and blast it with a "ray gun" from inside. Sounds wonderful!

I asked the doc how a stone this size got that far down the tube without me feeling it. "It grew there" was his reply. Probably came out of the kidney at some time, got stuck close to the bladder and just grew there for a long time.
