Hey Fellow TFFers. First I want to start off by saying that I've really struggled as to whether or not I should post this and make it public. The nature of this post is to inform and in no way is intended to be malicious. On June 23rd my partner and I put up one heck of a sack on Bob Sandlin (26.17 lbs) and won first place. We got a nice check and a pretty decent bump in AOY points. Much to our surprise, the check we deposited came back "account closed." Many attempts to reach the TD resulted in a few misleading texts in which an apology was offered and a promise to send a money order was made. We are now coming up on 2 months of not getting our money and have had to pursue other more official avenues by getting the DAs office involved. Before posting this I thought reaching out to the leadership of Media Bass was a good idea and that they might be inclined to make it right. Much to my surprise the response was something along the lines of, "we are sorry for your inconvenience and we are aware of the issue. Please continue to work with the TD to see if you can get your money". Not once was an offer made to make this right. After more investigation, the rumor mill says that there have been more than just our hot check issued. I always thought the fishing community was mostly comprised of "salt of the earth" people that stood behind their word. Needless to say, this fiasco has shaken my confidence in that. But hey... I got me one super expensive wooden plaque out of the deal.

Just wanted you all to be made aware that if you win, you might want to cash your check and make sure it clears the bank before buying more tackle you don't need.

Not the first time the "TD" took off with the money in bass fishing circles. It's happened many times in the past.

Media Bass has gotten worse and worse. Their payouts suck and now they are robbing people haha

Gary Youngblood was the TD. Check was for $2k

DA is just now getting involved. Tried handling this the good ole fashion way by being kind and trying to work with people. Hope that doesn't end up biting us in the end.

Heard one on July 14th on LOP bounced too for $1,100

I�m not sure about the OP situation but I havemfished media for 15 years and never had a problem.
That said the owner of Media Bass Trail should make any bad checks good if one of his TDS wrote it.

typically a bad check over $500.00 is considered a felony in many states...not sure about Texas......

Man that suks, hope everything works out and you get what earned. Suks that you have to go to these lengths to try and get it done.

Man that sure bites. Hope you get your money without having to spend 2k to get it. Congrats on your win. Never been to Bob Sandlin, sounds like it has some good ones in it.
