So what we got here, is a fuel tank leak on my John Deere ride'n mower.

I've run the fuel level down below the leak.

How do you brainiacs propose this gets fixed??

Trying not to have to remove the tank, due to it is a PITA.

My 1st thought is to ruff up the outside and put a fiberglass patch on it. I got a glue gun and sticks grin

Doubt bubble gum would adhere to it very long.

Gimme some ideas.

Some folks mouths, flat out runs their minds.

5 minute epoxy and fiberglass mesh. Three or four layers progressively larger.

Get some epoxy for plastic and seal it up. Shouldn't need fiberglass cloth

Pig putty. Just order it from amazon. Every single aircraft in the Air Force has their fuel tanks temp repaired with this. (It can be a permanent repair for you through). Clean the plastic with alcohol, MEK, MIBK,, or whatever. Take a little chunk of the putty, spit in your hand, and squeeze & mix the inner/outer layers of the stick. Put it over the leak & massage/feather the edges .

I'd drain the tank completely and remove it for safety if you consider a more permanent repair.

Plastic weld would be the strongest, longest lasting repair

Quick fix--you wouldn't have to drain and remove the tank
I wouldn't use regular epoxy. Plastic likes to expand, contract, and flex. Regular epoxy does not.
I'd use JBweld plastic bonder epoxy

if it is some kind of poly plastic the only way to fix it is to take it off
and get it plastic welded. Kinda like the front bumper covers on the newer cars.

Pig putty question:

Will it adhere to wet pvc ? I have a VERY Small leak at the edge of a pvc water fitting, cutting off and reattaching will in this case be a complicated job.

I just realized, guess I could turn the water off, huh ? smile
