Any opinions on the Solo Skiff from people that used them, own them, etc?
They look pretty cool and I find myself spending more and more time in the backwaters rather than out in the bay.
Thanks in advance.

I fall under the etc. I've been wanting one! I think it would be great for covering a lot of distance and getting back in there. I know so many places I want to go check out but I would paddle all day.

I am really tempted, but not sure how it will take to the local DFW lakes.

Ever since I saw a SoloSkiff, I've wanted to get a ForceFive or Laser sailboat hull and make it into a beamier version of a Solo. I think the extra beam would provide a lot of stability with very little price in speed. I have so many dream projects and no time or money or place to accomplish them. IslandJim

Ok, I wanted to resurrect this thread. Seriously considering a solo skiff with a trolling motor on the back. Lots of opinions on how it is useful in the bays and backwaters. However I was curious on how it would handle open lakes like Texoma, Ray Roberts, Fork, Etc.

I've always like the looks of the Solo Skiff, never been in one but have a couple of good friends that have them in south Florida and like them. Here is a new one from a guy I've known a long time that started out in kayaks and has made a good name for himself in the boat manufacturing world. I'm not sure which I like better but something else to consider. https://www.facebook.com/NEXTFISH/videos/1655905571173857/

Im not really up to date on those now. I know they had a fiberglass one, not sure about a plastic version. Glass is super nice but you have to be really careful with them.

JJ4MEL I've watched a lot of videos on these. In my opinion I don't think these would be good flats boats. Catch too much wind. It's more of a push pole boat than a paddle boat so in the wind you'll spend your entire time push poling. What I see for every cast or two there's twice that time (or more) spent poling.
I know SUP boards are winds sails for sure and these skiffs are basically a beefed up SUP.
You get out of it what you put into it!
