Might start to see some snow in the higher elevations, but for the most part you should be fine! If youre going to be around norther Idaho, the upper part of the north fork of the cour dAlene is a must fish for west slope cutthroats, if you can make it in to the far eastern part of Washington, the Spokane river is awesome urban fishing with native redbands up to the 25 range. Clark for river in Montana also has good fishing.

Trying to decide on driving or flying and rent a car. Might add N and S Dakota. All states I haven't been to.

I grew up fly fishing with my Mom and Dad on small Pocono Mountain streams and have fished Colorado and New Mexico. I've always wanted to fish Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. This trip will get me there. I'll do a couple of float trips on big water, but really want to wade fish the smaller streams as well. My love is dry fly fishing, but western waters seem to favor wet and nymphs.

I'll do some in Wyoming as we cross through coming home. Recommendations? I fished the Gravant years ago, with no success.

Lots of fish at the Grey Reef and the Miracle Mile is always worthwhile. We try to combine this with the Green River below Flaming Gorge.

I was living in the Caribbean in 2000 and decided to tour the Rockies. It was beautiful. I drove along the rivers and saw fly fishermen wadefishing. Cool. One day, I went to a music festival, and afterwards, I decided to car-camp in the Tetons. My feet were dirty, and I walked down a tree and dipped my feet in the stream. My feet turned blue! The water in August is SNOWMELT! HOLY ____! I had a re-think about the wadefishing. Wear thermal long Johns! IslandJim
