Just wanted to throw out a couple of locations near Ft. Worth where I have had some luck. I'm going to include catfish in here because I've found that catfish and carp hang out in similar areas. Trinity River near Scenic Drive and Riverside Park - I was unable to land due to lack of net, but hung a nice carp here. Broke my 10lb line lifting it. Also a great place to catch turtles... Chisolm Park (Hurst) - Hung 3, all of them broke my 14 lb line. One of them broke it at the reel. Capps Smith Park (Watauga) - Caught some yellow bullheads. No carp yet. Please add to my list. I'm just getting started and haven't landed one yet. I have acquired a net, so look out! I also have what seems to be a pretty good dough bait recipe which I would be willing to share if interested.
Looking for great carp places in/near Ft. Worth.

If you haven't landed one, I'd definitely consider your techniques as it may not necessarily be the size of the fish that's breaking your lines. I've heard of carp breaking 100lb test line simply because they're so powerful. You can't horse them in like a bass fisherman, it's a delicate balance of give & take when fighting these fish. You have to fish with a light drag, only tightening it/grabbing the spool when the fish is not running/if the fish is heading for a known snag, otherwise you risk breaking off and hurting both the fish and your ego. I personally use 30lb test braid as it was recommended to me to fish around the many snags in our waters, but 12-ish lb mono should do fine as well. Make sure you fill your spool completely, as you already likely know these fish will tear off dozens of yards of line in a single run!

The one that broke my line at the reel, I had caught on to adjusting the drag, but my Zebco 606 (I am discovering their reputation does not come without reason) snagged and it broke.
My first was definitely due to weight because I had him nose up vertically and just couldn't pull him out.
I'm learning one piece at a time. We carp fished when I was a little kid and I think my dad used 20 lb line. We rarely caught anything over 10 lbs.
I am discovering why he endured the criticisms of carp fishing.

I would certainly not attempt to drag anything that size ashore or lift it, as again you're either going to injure the fish or make yourself very upset when you inevitably lose him. Since you're getting a net you won't be doing that anymore, just know that they don't like the net and will run from it multiple times! Carp fishing is an incredibly fun and exciting sport, keep in mind that if you're releasing them that you should try to take the best care of the fish possible. You don't need to spend a fortune and can get away with using a simple rubber net, yoga mat, and reusable grocery bag from WalMart.

Are there spots on Lake Worth that don't require $5/hr parking? That's ridiculous!
Also, what about Eagle Mountain. It seems they have all the lake access roads gated off.
One more. Marine Creek Reservoir? Anyone had any carp luck?
Thanks. Good carping!

Marine creek is tough. It has some carp, but not great numbers. Marina Park on Lake Worth is where I have had pretty good carp and buffalo fishing in the past. That has been a few years and there may have been changes to the park. I have caught a lot of carp at Lake Arlington. Richard Simpson park at the western dead end of Arkansas lane has been pretty good to me depending on the lake water levels.

Yeah. It seems all the parks at Lake Worth have a $5/hr parking fee now. I think they are missing the point of a park...

Where is $5 hr parking.? [/quote] Maybe I need to actually go out there and check it out. That's just what I read when researching Lake Worth. Casino Bay and the Marina location list parking fees and further reading says $5/hr. Maybe thats just typical government misinformation. :P

I'm a regular on Lake Worth and a member of the ski club next to marina park. I have never paid $5 for parking at the parks, maybe for some reason you're looking at Lake Worth in Florida. There used to be a marina at marina park and a crappie house. They've been gone for years. there's a Rocky Point at Marina Park to the left if you're looking at the water I've caught fish there that is where the crappie house used to be.

You do need a boat ramp sticker on your boat trailer, they're $15. seen the Marshall at the boat ramp by 820 writing tickets last weekend.

It must be talking about the trailer fee, but if you look at the bottom listings, it says fee required. https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/worth/access.phtml And then, I think you're right, koray29. I think I went from there and hit a Florida site for the $5/hr. I apologize most humbly for the slander in which I was involved.

Carp guys had a lil carpfest in a small park area off Lakeridge/Watercress Off Confederate On NW side (Lakeworth) a few years ago - there were some nice sized buffalo caught that day.
