Just wondering if anyone has the X5 and is it's spot lock as good as the Ultrex. I noticed that they are a lot less costly then the Ultrex. I just never owned a motorguide and don't know much about them. Thanks for any help

MK's 1st gen wasn't as good as the X5i's but its 2nd Gen is supposed to be on par with it.

Some of the crappie guys will tell you that the XI5 is more accurate on spot lock than the MinnKota products. That simply is not the case. I have had both and firmly believe that the Ultrex has the XI5 beat in every possible way. No comparison between the two in my opinion. I made the mistake of buying the XI5 instead of the Ultrex on my center console and I regret that decision. You can certainly fish and be successful with the XI5 but it is simply an inferior product to the Ultrex in every way. Foot pedal, remote, mounting components are all inferior.

I have the new xi3 and couldn't be happier with spending only 1300 and getting the spot lock. Next boat will probably have an Ultrex but this is what can afford right now and it works with lowrance. Which is what I prefer.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!
