I see a few options available for this unit/ setup. I’m needing sonar & down imaging at the bow. Looking for advise & opinions on which one to purchase and get the best results from the unit from people using this setup. I appreciate any input you can provide and thank you.

If you just want di & sonar, get the HDI transducer. If you want si, di & sonar, then get the totalscan.

All you will need is the HDI transducer.

Get that and you will have sonar and downscan.

They make a trolling motor adapter for it too

It can be done.

Trolling motor brackets for the TotalScan transducer range from $80-$220

It will, there are several mounts available.

My question is can you get the full effect of the Totalscan ducer mounted on an XI5 TM as well as the HDS 12 GEN3 unit? Anyone running the Totalscan ducer on the TM? I’d like to hear from some folks who are and how it functions. Thanks again for all replies and advise.

As long as you have the rear skeg then it should fit. But, these electric steer motors can cause some issues when running the cables down the shafts.

Look up the Precision Sonar Cable Guard. This is the best way to run your transducer cable down the xi5. It runs around $130

The sidescan will work just fine on the trolling motor but just remember your picture may get skewed for a second or two when you move the trolling motor.

Personally, I would go with sonar/downscan only and get the HDI transducer

Thank you for the heads up, I have the Precision cable guard, it’s awesome! I think I’ll stick with the original plan and get the HDI ducer and call it good. Anymore more opinions, please feel free to share and thanks again.

I run a side imaging ducer, but for simplicity to a new owner I’d agree with Javelin and tell you to make it simple with a hdi.

Make sure you select the HDI transducer in the sonar settings tab. This is how you do it
