I have rigged wacky rigs for years by just putting the hook through the bait. Do the O-rings provide a significant advantage?

Seems like a lot of times when I skip with the o ring, the bait and o ring slide off the hook.

They make the bait last longer but may not give the same action on the fall.

No advantage except it might save you a bait or two. Matter of fact the O-Ring aligns the hook in the wrong directions which is horizontal. I want the the hook aligned vertical; so I use Shrink Tubing. Now if you want the wacky senko to come through the water in the Seahorse presentation or upright position then the O-Ring will allow it to do that. I have caught more fish with it coming through the water in a flat or horizontal presentation and with Shrink Tubing you can accomplish that with the hook point vertical.

Essentially this, o-ring will definitely save you money but "may" result in fewer bites.

I have used O-rings for Senkos and it may save a couple baits over the day but the O-rings I used actually pinched the baits in two after a few casts and as Donald mentioned a O-ring positions the hook point parallel to the bait as opposed to 90 degrees that I prefer.

I have had some success Neko rigging the Mag Finesse worm with an O-ring tho.

??? cost of O-ring tool and O-rings vs the few extra baits you may have to use ???
I bought one of the tools and then went back to hooking it straight thru the bait.....

I also tried using small zip ties in various neon colors ...... if chartreuse dye on the tail will work I figured a neon colored zip tie instaed of the o-ring might work as well. You can snug the zip tie up so that the hook does not come out when "zipping" it under a dock .... did it help and get more bites,,,,,,I don't know .... didn't do a scientific study ..... but I still use them when flipping under docks. for weed beds and rocks I just go thru the stick bait with a weed guard hook ... usually a Gamma #3

The zip ties that have the small tab that allows you to mount it to something would work well, hook through the screw hole and the hook would be 90 degree.

I'm with Donald. I've used shrink tubing for many years. Saves a lot of baits and presents the bait better than "O" rings.

Two Orings

This^^^^. One O ring = hook parallel with bait = fewer hookups(hook in line w/bait actually protects hook from fish). Two O Rings = hook at 90 degree angle from bait = way better hookup ratio(hook is completely exposed for hookset. Basically if you are loosing lots of Senkos use two O rings and your hook will still be in bait at 90 degree(cross ways) to bait for the same high hookup ratio without near as many lost baits.

I use 2 o rings that cross each other, makes the bait last longer. Once I hit the lotto ill stop using it.

No , not for me hook it the same place every time . Too much time to gift wrap it .

Two rings crossed for me. I do a few packages at at time while I'm sitting in my recliner.
