My boat has the round digital jack plate gauge. This thing works whenever it wants I suppose.. anybody know of any common fixes for these? Probably thinking its a loose wire?

Thanks

I just posted a question about JP gauges. Are yours Bob's or another brand. The comments on THT, although very old, were less than stellar.

I've had the same Bob's jackplate gauge for 18 years and never a problem. Could also be the sensors aren't aligned correctly at the jackplate. They seem to be sensitive to alignment.

When you say works when it wants to, are you referring to it lighting up and being able to see the numbers or the numbers do not move or flash? If the number does not adjust or is flashing or possible even just two bars instead of numbers that is the little sensor on the plate may be loose and is not aligning allowing it to read. If the numbers do not light up or the gauge does not light up then it could be a power problem.
