Looking at vacation for end of the year—places are filling up fast (even Aruba is just about fully booked)

We travel light—carry on only. I have a five day back pack that I’ve used for a twelve day trip no problem
Told my wife I’d be happy going to Costa Rica every vacation, but she wants to go somewhere we haven’t gone before.
I know they have good rum there—Foursquare, Mount Gilboa, Mount Gay, Plantation, Doorly’s

I've been, it was amazing.
I went, but it was over 25 years ago. It was amazing, even back then. My liver couldn't handle the trip now.

Was there several years ago on business. Took a couple extra days to play around. We hired a taxi and he took us from one side to the other, stopping every now and then for a cold brewsky from a roadside vendor.
Stayed on and liked the West coast side better, but beautiful all around.
At the time of my trip, was one of the safest spots to go. Would love to go back.

Found a great deal on the SPG/Starwood site for Panama.
The flights to Barbados were through Miami and the prices were exorbitant. Someone told me to use the Hopper App for flight deals when I was planning a trip a few months a go. I punched in where and when I was going. It alerts you when there are good prices and their recommendation to book now or if they expect there to be a better deal. I liked it.

I like that Barbados song. We’ll have to go when the tickets are reasonable. Not paying close to 2k per ticket with a connection through Miami (I expected price gouging week of Christmas, but that’s ridiculous)
