It debunks years of myths about dieting. It really explains down to the molecular level what your body needs nutrition wise and what foods to eat. It explains new research that basically says there is no evidence saying that grains are essential to life and that carbs from those sources are the reason for diabetes, dementia, Alzheimer's, heart disease, etc. It debunks the cholesterol myth and low fat diet myth. In some small studies they have given late stage Alzheimer's patients 4 tablespoons of olive and coconut oil and that their relatives said they gained years of loss back.

Not really, keto has some weird, hokie stuff to it, this is pure healthy eating, no eating spoon fulls of butter or stuff like that.

All I can say is that I am doing everything they are debunking. I am low carb (less than 26g/day), low fat, low cholesterol.

In 5 months I am down 43 pounds to a weight of 170 pounds.

My cholesterol when I started was 297, now 221. Still high, but much lower. All done with diet nd exercise...no meds.

My blood pressure on meds was 140/90ish. Now, off meds is 115/75ish.

My triglycerides were 310, now 91.

I sleep way better with no snoring.

I just can't fathom these doctors saying cholesterol/fat/grease is not bad.

Doesn't mean its good for you, I can starve myself and lose weight but not good for me. Read the book and you will understand. I can't explain this stuff on here, lots of scientific research and reasons why this is the best way to eat. Cholesterol is not a bad thing if it is coming from the right sources, your brain actually creates and uses quiet a bit of its on cholesterol. Congrats on the great changes but I would recommend looking into the book to continue your longterm health.

Never did I say high grease, high oils. Huge difference. Your body cannot synthesis proteins without fats. Fats are essential to human body function.

With that said, one of the highest prescribed medications are cholesterol meds, they are trying to push that stuff, so of course they are going to say its bad for you.

Best health book I've read is "Spark," the revolutionary new science of exercise and the brain. Not much diet info in there though, mostly exercise.

You should read it, its eye opening. My wife hasn't started exercising yet and has lost 8 pounds this last week. I don't call it a diet, it's nothing gimmicky, purely healthy eating and cooking. My caloric intake hasn't changed, in fact, we both probably eat more but are losing weight.

None are about quick fixes or major overhauls. We chose the books that give realistic advice you can fit into your daily routine no matter the month. If you search on google or other search engine you might get a big list of books which are really good enough for health. Here you can simply read this one "Dirty Genes"

Looks like a good book for me. smile

I know what my doctor told me and it's never changed over the years;
One ounce of water for every two pounds of weight.

My recommendations, if you want to know why we think dietary fat is bad and carbs are good. (Spoiler alert: everything we were taught was a lie and has resulted in skyrocketing levels of obesity and cardiovascular disease.)

Wheat Belly by cardiologist Dr William Davis
The Big Fat Surprise by Nina Teicholz
Why We Get Fat by Gary Taubes
Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore and Dr Eric Westman

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ― Hunter S. Thompson

Good stuff here. My weight has fluctuated a little from about age 40 to now 63. I got up to my most weight ever at about 55 and a lady at work told me all I needed to do was to cut way down on anything white.

potatoes
sugar
milk ..... dairy products
flour.......bread

I lost 20 lbs in no time and it was very painless. I didn't quit eating any of those things, I just made a habit of avoiding them most of the time, while still eating any of them occasionally.

Still can eat all the meat, veggies and fruit I want. If I need to drop 10 lbs instead of buying new wranglers I just concentrate on avoiding the white stuff.

who knows? works for me

GOD is good!
