Any one on here buy this and if so where or who from? Wife has been researching due to health concerns. Any knowledge would be appreciated, sarcastic comments expected. Thanks in advance.

My wife buys organic free range chicken from either Target or Whole Foods. Grass fed beef she buys at Whole Foods. Pork I think she just looks for no antibiotics or something.

I wished I had the land so that I could raise my own. I've already tried with rabbits and chickens. They didn't work out with the HOA.

I've read before that all that is required for chicken to be labeled "free range" is that the hundreds of thousands of chickens in the barn technically have access to a small outdoor area. None of the chickens ever actually go out there, but in theory if they could. So they get to charge you extra for chicken that is essentially identical to regular chicken.
I wouldn't trust a free range label unless you actually visited the farm.

This is why I want to find a private supplier. I've read some things that are similar to what you stated.

I wouldn't trust a free range label unless you actually visited the farm. Probably true or close to it. Like most people, my wife feels better buying it and ignores that its probably BS. We have backyard chickens and the eggs are incredible. She lets them roam around the yard a lot and they have a pretty big coupe area they can get around in when they arent in the yard. Chickens are so dumb and helpless that its tough to just let them have free range even in our fenced in backyard.

Yep. If one is concerned enough about meat to research the animal's lifestyle it might be a better option to avoid meat all together. There's also the option of only eating what you kill ( deer, wild hog, etc.).
This thread needs more cowbell ...
