4-1/2 hour trip, water temp 94, water kind a clear, little to no wind with blue bird skies. Caught 18 bass in all.
Most bass I caught were in 17 to 23 FOW on T/R plastic. Caught about 6 to 8 on a top water plug fished close to shoreline. Caught one with a jigging spoon, but didn't use it much. The outside temp got hot pretty quick like, so I left them biting in deeper water. Never did see any type of schooling action out in deeper water like I thought I would see, but over all day was ok for this time of year fishing. I had fun and that's what matters the most. Might wait for cooler weather before going out again, because I drank a lot of water on this trip. I normally pack a lot of water with me and this time I was thankful for it because I drank a bunch.

No, I didn't catch anything really over 2-1/2 pounds. There was one that was very fat and healthy looking, it might have come close to three pounds, but I'm sticking with it in the upper two pound range area just to be on the safe side. For the most I would say the fish I was catching were very low two pound range fish. It was like the same size over and over again. I did pick up and look for bigger fish from time to time, but the fish I graphed in these areas just would not bite what I was throwing. And I did switch it up a little, it's not like I pitched one thing and that's it. Maybe those out in the creek channel had lock jaw, who knows. It's summer time and hot, which means slow fishing on just about any lake you get on right now. Come on fall weather.

I am very glad to see you were catching fish, period. Summer is tough on Bastrop.

There are times when it seems like you're catching the same fish over and over. Lots of 1-2 pounders on the Strop.

Be safe,
Rayzor
