Deep down they don't want football to be any good, basketball is king there, at that level you never see basketball and football dominate at the same time, maybe for a year or two, but never long term.

Just wondering.
Is anything else in your life,( job, family, mortgage) as important as football or any sport, for that matter? KU football is just his mediocre filler until KU basketball kicks in. KU football must improve significantly to be mediocre. Woeful is a more accurate adjective.
