Just hired hisfirst assistant. Hired a guy to work the football program who has history with Michigan, Tennessee, and Alabama football.

The real test will come were the Hawks to lose their opener at home to Nicholls State. If so, is Coach Beaty fired right there on the field...

Kansas must improve if it intends to continue to be a P5 program. Kansas does not have to field a championship caliber team. A .500 team will suffice.

Jeff Long formerly of Arkansas was brought in to be AD. Now an assistant with a history of being on national championship programs is hired to watch over football. When the axe falls on Beaty, they have to make a decent hire and keep him.

If Kansas fails this time....I see a UCONN kind of deal. Play elite basketball, but then minor conference football.

This Beaty situation is hurting the 'hawks recruiting this year i think. There's a common vibe that he is probably gone after this year, and they have only taken 2 verbal commits. Not that they are ever a recruiting powerhouse, but this is killing them; they either need to rip off the bandaid and get it over with or give him a 10-year contract extension to demonstrate their commitment.

maybe they can pull some of their round-ball atheletes over to help out on the grid-iron.

Ted...that�s what we have been saying since mid season last year.

What makes it even worse is that in an effort to save his job, Beaty loaded up on juco players this year. Our experience with them is not great. Many run into academic problems, and a good percentage prove not to be able to play big twelve football. As a result, even if long hires the ghost of Paul Bryant to replace Beaty, the cupboard is going to be bare in the talent column.

Gpa who are you asking?

My priorities in order:
1. Faith
2. Family (marriage, kids)
3. Finances (career, retirement, college savings)
4. Fishing
5. Football (specifically and especially, college football)

The other F, Fitness needs to move up the list to #4.

in 1988 the toughest job in all of college football was K-State. Then they hired Bill Snyder AND the administration got behind the notion of becoming a football school, not a football punch-line. Snyder then hired Bob Stoops, Brent Venables, Mark Mangino, Phil Bennett, Brent Bielema, and a host of other key assistants (he obviously had an eye for talent).

So there is hope, they need 1 good hire AND real support from the administration . . .
