Looking for information from anyone who has had experience with a adding a skid plate such as the Hydro Dynamics Skid Plate to their jack plate. Mainly wanting to try to improve hole-shot on my Skeeter ZX190, 175SHO. I don’t have bad porpoising issues but I’ve read it eliminates that as well. Thanks in advance.

I have one made from someone else and it helps. I’m also running 14 inches of setback. Baileys hydrofoil is the most improvement I’ve seen on holeshot

Works great on my 21i !! I can stay up on plane at slower speeds, no porpoising at slow speeds. Jumps up pretty quick out of the hole. Worth the money for sure!

I'm running one under my Gambler with no trim tabs. 6" Hydrodynamics static plate and Bob's Machine 6" hydraulic plate.
Holeshot is night and day difference.
Allows me to run a bigger prop and still have a decent holeshot.
Boats will still porpoise with one, just need to sync trim and throttle.

I run one on a 14 inch static plate, and also run a Bailey’s foil like mentioned above. Excellent holeshot and handling at low speeds from both of them. Both very worthwhile.

I had one on my 10” HydroDynamics jp on my 20’6” Gambler. Definitely made a difference in hole shot. Also conveniently provided a great place to mount my side scan transducer and temp probe.

Another added feature is keeping you from having a stump, just the right size and just the right depth below the surface, from creating a bad situation.
Lake Palestine - West Bank, around 2003.
When the stump finally broke, thank goodness it broke below the skeg, but that Gambler was at full throttle and pointed up at close to 45 degrees or so. It must have looked like a Trident missile launching when the stump broke. I don't know how I didn't land on anything.

I have put Steve's plate under my previous ZX200 and now my ZX225. Both hole shots were faster, but they were already decent hole shots. The main reason I got it was like said in another post, it is a preventative measure from centering on a stump and lodging in jackplate bottom opening. Never actually had that happen to me but I can imagine it would be hard to get dislodged. On both boats, I have mounted my LSS tranducer on the bottom to the plate. Lastly, when coming off of plane from WOT, there is no wash over back of the boat. I used to have to either trim all the way under before coming off pad to stop or "feathering" the throttle to keep the back wash of the rear deck. For less than $100 it has a lot of benefits and mounting holes line up perfectly on slidemaster plate.
