They don't fish brush piles..lol.. just natural spots.. Then turn around and says first thing I use in a brush pile is a worm because sometimes a crankbait will get hung up first cast

Most of the year brush piles are useless, but they definitely get hot at times. The good fisherman fish it all. That's what I think he meant

So I asked them early what they look for and both said natural spots, ie structure or bottom contour, thats where they find spots that hold up. But if you run across a brushpiles, at Rayburn, Toledo, wherever we all fish them. One of the questions I got when i asked the guys on here what they wanted me to quiz them about was that, whats the first bait you throw in a pile, and that was his answer. Neither of them go out looking for piles, but they arent going to skip fishing one if they run across it.

Ken!!! Those videos were great!!! Very educational and I found myself writing tips and ideas down on paper!! All these new video guys out there need to take lessons from you on how to make great videos!! Well done, sir!!! So basically the lesson would be have informative information from two of the best anglers in ETX lol. You sure seem to defend the Tubers every time someone says anything that might possibly be negative about them. Ronnie made an awesome point...there's no jumping up and down and screaming...no weird sound effects....no screaming that's my PB or its a giant TOAD Game changer that happens to be 3.25#....etc, etc. And before I get the speech on how "well" these tubers are doing and all the "big" money they are making doing it and I am just an old fuddy duddy...I don't care and it's not really "big" money. I agree with Ronnie...very well made informative video that someone can actually learn something from. I think you misunderstood me. I was just saying that obviously getting two elite Rayburn guys to share some information on camera makes for a great video.

I have over 400 brushpiles on Sam Rayburn, they range from 8' out to 28' of water. They can be magical at times but very seldom do I pick up more than 1-2 fish on a brush pile if I catch any at all. Last time I went out and ran brushpiles I hit 50 plus piles and caught 8 fish. Biggest was around 4 lbs. That is why they look for natural spots. Now granted they know which piles have historically had big fish on them and have a milk run set up depending on wind and weather. I have seen natural spots that would produce 50 plus fish per day. I have witnessed some of those natural spots ruined by loading that area up with brush and others that it has helped. Some of the best spots I have are often overlooked by others until they get found on a bent rod pattern. Those spots were overlooked because the structure was only a 2-3 foot break instead of an obvious point or creek that may change 6-12' on the break. If its obvious it's been fished.

Most often brushpiles are where they are just suspended or resting up when not actively feeding. So to catch those fish you have to hit them on the head with the bait or get a reaction strike from them.

Just curious, how the heck did you put out 400 brush piles without getting caught and what did you use for brush. I've put out several brush piles on several lakes and it was a real chore doing it without somebody watching.
