On the beach in Texas? specifically port Aransas area my family wants to go to the beach and spend a day there. I will like to know if I can cast a rod from the surf and be ok or is that not allowed any help is appreciated. I have only fished from piers in the past but want to stay with them while they get in the water as I can fish and wait

Glad I looked I have the same question since I will be down there for a few days next week and my hotel is right across from the beach. Would love it if I was able to just walk across the street and fish while the little ones play in the sand.

Yes, you can fish from the beach while your family plays. I typically fish from from dawn to 8 or 9 am while my family is sleeping. I am waiting on dawn to approach right now.

You can also take the family down to the state park. They have a beach for the family and jetties you can fish off of. take some live shrimp or live croaker and go out off of those jetties. lots of specks, reds, and black drum out there. free line and or under a popping cork works well.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept.'s Fishing Regulation Manual or go on line and look. First thing I did but did not see anything while scanning thru it real quick as this was a spur of the moment thing. To everyone else thank you for the replies
