Fished with buddy Lloyd from 6:30am-1:30pm. Water temp 93-94 degrees. West winds heavy till about 11:00 switching to light north. Tried a few spots early with minimal success. At 9:30 pulled into a secondary creek behind Buzzard point and the bite was on. Ended up with around 70 with half being slabs like the ones in the photos. Most caught around a single tree in about 4 ft of water on night crawlers & red wrigglers

. Lloyd was fishing drop shot, & I was doing Carolina rig...it didn't matter. Kept 10 for the table that had swallowed the hook & would not have survived...all other released... Life is good...

Laker...Just a reminder...this coming Saturday they will be having that annual perch jerker tournament on Fayette where each entry has a 100 fish bag limit. I probably won't be going back there til the fall, but will be very interested on hearing how you do...

Laker...I agree...I had an argument with the Game Warden a while back when he told me it wouldn't really hurt the overall bluegill population...

Wounder how far back that tournament has been going on? If it has been an yearly event that has been occurring over a lot of years it's evident that this has not hurt the sunfish population. Fayette is an ideal sunfish lake with ideal conditions. Sunfish usually have three spawning cycles a year and they really multiply. Guess a once a year tournament would not hurt that lake. Like you I have done really well the times I have fished Fayette. I will also wait until early September before fishing it again. I usually fish Fayette twice a year. woot

Side Note: Have already changed my plans!

Laker...The game warden said it is an annual event for a big fish fry that benefits a good cause, but did not say how many years it has been goin on. BTW...Two of the fish I cleaned actually had eggs inside...couldn't believe it...I thought the spawn was done a month & a half ago. So where ya headin to instead of Fayette ? We really lucked out with the weather yesterday...not really hot a all...
