Not shoes made from a yak, but what you're wearing when your yakking. I hate Crocs and not a fan of flip flops. Really looking for something more like a tennis shoe or hiking shoe that drains well, dries fast, and has good traction. What are you guys wearing?

I've been wearing Columbia Drainmaker shoes, they work pretty well. Worn without socks, they fit like a sneaker, and drain and dry fast. There's enough room to wear a 0.5 mm neoprene sock on cold days. Plenty of traction and support on the ramp or the shore.

Sperry has a similar shoe but the Columbia was on sale when I got them. Currently on sale at the Columbia web site.

I wear these on the Yak or walking in the water. very lightweight. dry fast and pretty durable. I've had them a couple years now and still in good shape.

First pair lasted many fishing in the salt from kayak. Very lightweight, quality shoe. Bought a second pair 5 years ago but don't wear them much as I used to since I'm normally wearing waders from fall thru spring.

I've worn Columbia Drainmakers, Astral Brewer, Vibram fivefigers KSO, Keen Newports, and Crocs, but the Salomon Crossamphibian Swift are my favorites. I use my shoes for kayaking and wading hill country rivers and at the coast, so I was looking for shoe that was part water shoe part hiking shoe. So some of the characteristics I was looking for were: Razor siping and lugged sole for grip; breathe-ability; quick drying; keep debris out of the shoe; and lightweight. The Crossamphibian has a neoprene tongue heel which does a great job keeping little rocks and pieces of shell out of the shoe. They're mostly mesh so the breathe well, are lightweight, and dry as quick as other shoes.

If I was just kayaking where I was going to be in my kayak all day and not wading I wear my Vibram Fivefingers.

I have my 2nd pair of Columbia Drainmaker's and they are better than the original ones I had.

Soft Science TerriFin boot. I like it because it is a little taller and keeps the top of my ankles from getting burned in the sun when I wear pants.
Dries fast and is stable when wading.

Recommendation on what NOT to get. The Columbia Bahama Vent PFG. Bought them thinking they would be good, they aren't. Sand and small rocks find their way in too easily, when they are wet they stretch and fit loose (fit snugger when dried out again) and they take FOREVER to dry. I take them off when driving home because wet feet are annoying in a shoe on a long drive. Maybe I will check out the Drainmakers that everyone has been suggesting. They are comfortable and lightweight when dry though.

I'll add that I prefer laces or velcro over bungee cord as I've found bungee cord stretch over time. Granted, this is because I use them as wading shoes as well, and not just in a kayak.

I just bought a second pair of Drainmaker IV.

I got those $19 Ozark water shoes at Walmart at the start of this season. They are holding up OK and I don't have any complaints.
