Anybody know of an air conditioning parts store in the Plano area that's open on Sunday (or Saturday night!)? I need a capacitor ASAP. I found a place that might have one in Dallas, but they are already closed so I won't be able to check it until tomorrow. A place further north would be great.

I don't know if Grainger is open on Sunday but they'd probably have the capacitor

Or, being very careful remove the guard from your condenser fan and give it a spin. It may get the fan going. Just don't let it turn off or you'll have to do it again.

You could get very lucky and they�ll have it at a Home Depot

Call around to all of the hardware stores and see if you can find one. A lot of them carry the capacitors. Probably need to bring the old one with you or at least take a picture. There are all different kinds.

What size you need? Most of us rednecks keep spares.

I have 2 units and a spare for the other one, but not for this one (of course). Here is what I am replacing - GE 97F9850: 50 + 5 uf MFD 440 Volt VAC - GE Round Dual Run Capacitor.

I tried to start the fan through the grates but it didn't really get going.

I went and checked my stash. This is the only one I have. Looks too small for what you need. If it would work I could be talked out of it.

SUCCESS! I got the capacitor at Dallas HVAC Parts. They are open Sunday from 9-1 (and they were busy). Two knowledgeable guys working the counter and helping people. Located near 635 and Skillman.
