Just wanted some opinions from skeeter owners about what they use and their thoughts on the two. I have a 06 skeeter zx225 with a 24v set up and an 80 fortrex. I am putting a new ultrex on it and im trying to decide if adding the extra battery and weight is worth it. I do tournament fish and the boat has dual talons which slows it down a bit already. Trying to decide if the reduced weight and cost of replacing batteries would be worth sticking to the 80/24v system. Thanks

Don't know if this will help or not but I'm in a Skeeter ZX190 w- 150 SHO and have the 80- 24v Ultrex with the 45" shaft. Have NEVER had it on high and the spot lock holds it within 3' in 15-18 mph wind. I think the 80 would probably work just fine for you but you might consider going with the 52" shaft. Another thing to consider if you go with a 36v you'll probably have to buy another charger too. You're gonna love the Ultrex with all the features.

Really depends on if you fish deep and in the wind alot. If so I'd go for the 36

I had an 80 ultrex on my old zx225 and fished pretty much every weekend never wished I had More. My new zx250 has a 112 and it definitely has more power but in your case id stay with the 24

I would say it depends on how choppy the water is you will fish. If your someone that doesnt mind a little more wind than most I say go bigger.

I have a 2002 ZX 225. I just put an 80 pound, 24 volt, 45 inch ultrex on it about four months ago. I have had no problem with enough power to fish in moderate wind. Very seldom run above 5 except to move from spot to spot when 50 or so feet apart. When I kick it up to 9 or 10 I leave a noticable wake behind the boat. So far the 45 inch shaft has been all I need. I have it set with about six inches of shaft above the clamp and have had no problem spot locking in choppy water and going to the back deck and fish. FYI, I am 6 1 and weigh 255 pounds.

Everyone knows I have the same boat and Ultrex as GiGem.....it is plenty. In fact, I have tied a FX 21 to my boat and held us both on a spot in 15-20 winds.

80 is plenty for all but the heaviest 21'+ boats.

Just get a 36 Volt 52 and be done with it. No need to skimp!

I think, we all think, goin with a 36v wassa nice idea. Not pointIn any fingers, but the 24v is just gonna be better. So howsa bout no 36v this time, but next time, maybe with a heavier boat, you do it right and you go 36v.

If you don't run down the fortrex now you probably won't run down an 80 ultrex

I have a zx250 set up from the factory with a 24v system. Put an 80# ultrex on it and have never needed more power and fish multiple T a year nor ran it down to no power. If youre set up to a 24v system stay with an 80# do upgrade to a 52 shaft.
