Got to the lake at daybreak, but didn't get to spot til 6:45 due to HEAVY FOG. Started at fav spot, but only catching dinks...moved to other fav area at 9:00 and too windy (10-15 mph)...moved to creek #1 and Nada. Decided to try another creek

area I never fished b4. Noticed bobbers in trees...always a good sign. This was a good move. Ended up with maybe 30 sunnies overall, with 1 real good cat...fought that baby in the trees 4 a good while ! Water temp 94 degrees...like bath water...

Thanks guys...It has been a stellar year. I really get inspired to be a better angler from all the great posts on this forum. Two significant things from todays trip. 1st...the wind was blowing so hard from the west it forced me out of my prime areas comfort zone resulting in finding a third spot I now have high confidence in. 2nd...this new area had a high level of black scum on the bottom so I tried using a crappie bobber with a rattle in it. Turned out the bobber wasn't quite big enough, so it sank...very slowly. It was fluorescent, so you could still see it around 2 feet down, and it kept the weight off the bottom...this is how I caught all the better fish today including the catfish...go figure??

As always Vogey great post and some super solid fish. Good job. thumb

Side Note: Looks like you are making Fayette your summer home! Don't blame you. That lake like Dunlap has some BIG fish. However Fayette unlike Dunlap has no problem with wake boats! bang

Great report as always Vogey along with some super solid fish. The last time I fished Fayette which was not that long ago the reed beds were holding some good fish. Also the timbers were starting to pick up! Again super post! woot

Chascat...Actually I have been releasing all fish since an early spring trip where I filled up the freezer. I am, however down to the last 2 packs, so will need to start keeping some over the next few trips...thanks for the response...
