I am contemplating trading my Chronarch and Curado E series reels for the K series. I have one K and it seems like a pretty good reel for the money. Those of you with experience with the K's please weigh in on if this is wise. Is this a trade up or am I better off sticking with the E's?

I think the new Curado K is the best Curado ever made.

E's are the best. But, Haven't fished with a K either.

Want to lend me a lefty to find out?

I am not getting rid of my E's but I do have a couple K's now and they are legit! woot

I am sure a few more will find their way into the rod box in the future and the E's will be put in my museum. wink

I have 2 of the 8.5:1's and love them. My only issue has been the thumb bar cover (cheap plastic) broke on both of them. Luckily Southwest Parts and Service fixed them under warranty no issues. I have 5 of the 7.4:1's, I will trade two of them for the 6.2:1's but overall, I have been a Lew's user for last 3 years and this is a major upgrade. Plus with Shimano's great customer service, I have no complaints.

I have 2 of the Ks and like them. Have 8 of the 200e7s and love them, think they are the best reel at that price point, and wouldn't trade them. The E7s just feel more substantial and will have to see how the K does for dependability.

I have 11 of the K's and I love them. I personally have never understood the fascination with the E series and I owned a bunch of them.

I love the K. I'm deep cranking with 6.2:1 and everything else is 8.5:1. I feel like my hook up ratio is better with the high speed reels when fish knock slack in the line.
Working on replacing all of mine with the K's.

I like the K series Curado more than the E series but I liked the I series more than the E as well.

Even better than the old B series reel? I have about 13 or 14 of them and put them uup against the K and you have to spend a TON of time, or I did, putting the right settings on it. It continually falls out of shape while deep cranking. NO THANKS, I will keep my old B reels and baby them along for another year. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have not tried a K yet, but I have all 200e series and see no reason to change. Shimano hit the stink button with a couple of their releases the last few years IMO, so for now I will keep what I have.

Now if someone wants me to "field test" a K I am all in!

The DC's should be out shortly, I am hoping my contact in San Diego has some when I go out there in September. I am hoping to get them for cost.... Hoping is the key word here...

I agree... The I series reels were very noisy, you had to "oil the brakes" to keep them quiet. I got rid of all of the ones I had. I am keeping my E reels.

The only problem I have with the K Series is they have no low speed reels. Maybe I'm wrong...
