Remember to hydrate the evening BEFORE fishing. Once in the heat, the body cannot absorb it quick enough to replenish vital organs.

As much as I want to go, I am over 70 and high temps is just not worth risking it for a fish, even a crappie. Believe it is best to stay home under the a/c. If you do go out, get off the lake early. Be safe out there cool (sounds like Hill Street Blues)

Smart move Tom. Water temp down lake at Neely Slough is 87, so you can't even cool off in the lake. You have to get wet and get the boat on plane to cool off. Time to go to New Mexico and chase Trout.

DEPENDS ON YOUR BOAT SETUP. We fished today until 11:15 AM on my pontoon but were mostly in the shade after 9:30. My boat has bimini canopys front to rear.

We caught about 80 Crappie with 23 kept. Small Slab Bandits in 12'-16' over brushpiles.

Most boats can easily be fitted with a canopy or umbrella. Makes a huge difference.

Try an umbrella rig. You won't believe the temp difference with just a little shade.

My weather station says its 108, with a Heat Index of 121 here in Yantis. I can stand it till about 11, then I head for some A/C and a cold beer.
