Thanks Fitz, J-Moe, Banker, and gar1970. I am kind of proud, not necessarily about the fish but mostly that I learned how to post pictures from my phone. Of course I had to get some tutoring from banker, bless his heart.

Now where in the heck is that 10 inch Blue Gill on my bucket list. It is swimming in Lake Athens. I'll go catch it for you on Thurs.

Nice Rio Catyakker and congratulations on another record fish! You,Banker, and J-Moe are knocking out the records. Keep up the GREAT fishing. Side Note: Is that "Wacky Worm" fly a sinking fly? Also have you used Black/Yellow combinations on the Rios?

Great Rio!
I would trade any of the +/-10" greenies or bluegills that I have caught over the years for a Rio.

Thanks again folks. Laker, the rubber worm (wacky worm) I use, is a 1" long and sinks very slowly. Often the fish hit it just as it touches the water. Sometimes I tie a couple of hook length strips of .025 lead wire when fishing deeper water. I've used Black/Yellow combinations on wholly buggers, and dragon flys and at times, I have done real well. I just like watching my fly line twitch when using slow sinking rubber flys.

I have only been fly fishing for about two years and still learning color combinations especially what colors work best during certain times of the year. Black/Yellow seem to work best during the summer times. I also get good results with Brown. During the spring Red/Black,Chartreuse/Black,and Red/Yellow work good. Fall and winter Chartreuse/Black is my go to color. Lot's of different color combinations. Sometimes they work and other times they do not. That's what I love about fly fishing. The challenge! Again super Rio and a super catch!

I have had great luck in the summer with this red siliworm brown dubbing combo. I usually add lead wire and wrap it in dubbing before I tie on the siliworm.

Those look like some AWESOME baits! Have you ever used Brown or Black instead of Red? Also wondering how Chartreuse would work. I may just have to experiment. Love your baits Mitt78. Nicely done!

Thanks. I havent tied any in black or brown just yet. I need to make a run up to bass pro and see what they have. I want to tie some in chartreuse and maybe even glow in the dark.

I never thought of a glow in the dark fly! If you make them please post a report on how they worked.
