From reviewing the records and watching Youtube videos I knew there were rock bass in the San Marcos River. And everything I've read and watched is that the San Marcos is a fantastic fishery. I've been wanting to fish the San Marcos for a while and wanted to catch my first Rock Bass for even longer. Well neither disappointed. The San Marcos is an incredible fishery!!!!

I launched at Rio Vista park at 6 AM and worked my way upstream to the tube rental launch. It doesn't open until 10 AM so I pretty much had the place to myself until then. I fished with a Llano bug for a couple hours, then added a crawfish briminator dropper for the last 2 hours.

I ended up catching a couple Rock bass, my first ever, 5 bass, 5 to 10 native bluegill, a couple greenies and at least 40 redbreast sunfish. It was absolutely full of big redbreast. It was a great day of fishing!!!

That’s awesome! I’ve never caught a rock bass either. Glad you were able to check that off the list. I’m primarily a crappie guy, but I’ve really enjoyed getting into sunfish the last 3 or 4 weeks. The action is hot and the varieties are pretty cool. You never know what you’re going to pull in next! Take care.

Thanks dld0007 and Fitz

Yes Fitz, it's the first time I've seen one posted too. It's very difficult to find a picture of one anywhere on the internet.
