Last weekend I caught northern bass weighing 8lbs in the Lake St. Clair, Michigan near Detroit, now what is your best catch this so far this year?

All the edited pictures crack me up. There are no secrets in fishing any more. And it won't even matter if these fish we all caught months ago during the Winter and Spring.

Caught a couple heavy 7's on Athens a few weeks ago. Frog in less than 2ft of water, in the far end of a channel lined with boat houses. Behind the little lilly pads....around clumps of matted grass.

Biggest so far 19 inch 4 lbs 2 oz smallie out of Canyon off the bank. Read somewhere where an 18" smallie is considered trophy size down south, so I guess I caught a trophy smallmouth.

It's northern bass guys. Totally different from a southern fish. VERY old dense fish from all that cold up there. That fish is probably 20 years old and it's bones age like tree rings. That all stacks up over time for added weight. Easy 8.

I'm stuck up north for a few more months. Been a tough year bass wise, 5lbs is probably my heaviest YTD. (Mind you the season has only been open for 2 months). I did catch a donkey musky last weekend. My selfie game is not good.

I haven't got to fish much until recently so this is my biggest as of 2018. Will fish much more come fall, traditionally for me that's when I catch my bigger fish.

This was caught on Santuit located on cape cod. White swim jig with paddle tail swimbait. Threw up on the bank next to a large log. Swam it down the log and half way this fish hammered it. Little over 7 pounds, big fish for up here.

Well.....here's a good one from today. Athens lake. On a frog. 100 yards from the boat ramp. With 15 minutes to spare.

One fish. Was good enough for big bass and 2nd.

Man! You have no idea. This one was barely 8. 5 minutes before this one, my partner lost a true GIANT. Easy DD. I was done...spent....hot....exasperated.....frustrated....you name it. He lost that one, and we got to see it. It motivated me to not give up. Then WHAM! This one absolutely blew up on the frog through some dense pads. It came all the way out of the water and made my part easy. Both hooks in the roof of the mouth. It was a long day of catching nothing but slots. 17",18"19".....

Got second because I couldn't catch one little fish. Only needed ounces for the whole shebang.

My biggest was about 8.7 ounces on Lake Worth. Anyone who has ever been to that lake will know from the pictures EXACTLY where I caught it... from that dock right behind me in that picture. If you don't know.. I'll give you the exact location... I have checked back 50 times since then.. he is not there anymore lol.

Anyway, that is also my PB...

Solid Cod piece.

Mass. has the most unbelievable state record (outside of Georgia)

15lb 7oz 100% northern strain caught in 1975. No other bass caught in Massachusetts has weighed anywhere close.

And a Detroit River early season smallmouth (6.5 pounds)

And a Lake Fork largemouth (9 pounds):
