Just wanted to say thanks for the add. Living in Grand Prairie here. First post. Been trying to fish Joe Pool the last few weeks, but no luck at all. Gonna go out again this Saturday and give it another go. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on fishing this lake? I guess I'm gonna try for white bass this time and see what happens. I've got a lot to learn, but slowing picking stuff up here and there. Look forward to chatting with yall.

welcome to the TFF STRRAYNGE, The main point that splits the arms is a good place to start, start early and shallow and move deeper with a 3/8 ounce CC Spoon. Watch for schooling action at day break and you can catch some of the bigger sand bass vertical jigging off the bottom when that happens as well. peep

Thank you and very much appreciated! All I've got right now are 7/8 ounce Bomber slabs, but I can see what I can find this Friday. I'll try where you mentioned, but I was curious about a spot near where the old marina used to be at cedar hill state park. Saw a couple boats fishing that exact spot last Saturday? Was wondering what might be there.

This is the toughest lake to fish in town.
Not nutrient rich so few shad so few fish.
Clay bottom, little grass and so warm right now all fish are deep,
except at daybreak, then scattered everywhere.
Best of luck. You will hit paydirt but you will work for it

Lol, thanks for the input. It has definitely been tough. Been out 3 times now with not even a hit. But, I've been fishing it wrong and at the wrong times I believe. Only reason I keep trying this lake is because it's so close to home. I can be there and in the water in about 15 to 20 minutes. Not giving up yet. If nothing else, I get lake time and practice, lol.

The spot you saw several fishing by the old State Park Marina is a large brush pile...Sand bass activity has been slow this year, did see them schooling this week around noon over by the old marina...in that large flat they were chasing shad up top..easy to catch on a top water..maybe they will start schooling more now...lake has plenty of shad and bait...can find some stacked on humps around the lake get a Hook n Line Joe Pool map and it will show prime locations for locating sand bass.

Thank you. I'll try to order the map tomorrow when I get paid. I'm also buying a state park pass. That way I can go out as often as I want and it wontvfeel like such a loss. I just hope I can catch something this weekend. Gonna try that brush pile and see if I can do any good there. I just installed a new fish finder. Hopefully I have my transducer right so I can get some good readings.

Really wanting to put a side imaging fish finder on my boat. Was gonna go buy one tomorrow, but after looking at my very limited mounting spots, I don't see it working. My lower unit will completely block the left side. Not sure what options I have there.

I ended up buying an echomap plus 73sv. With that said, I easily found the large brush pile last Sunday. Didnt do any fishing, just a little scanning. Going to try and go back out this weekend and see what else I can find. And wow, that brush pile is huge!
