The weather is warm, but the bite continues to impress at RC. The lake has put up daily limits of hybrids since March and there are no signs of it slowing down yet.
This morning there was an hour of topwater action in the deeper water off Pelican Island. From 8 am to 9:30 there was nearly an acre of topwater fun. I observed four boat fishing closer to Pelican, but I guess they didn't notice.
Afterwards, I found a few schools of hybrids staging above the thermocline in about 28 feet of water. Using the downrigger, nearly every pass produced a keeper hybrid. Using suspended live bait has also shown to be productive.
