Absolutely nothing going on in Dublin. Stephenville aint far and has most of what you need. Granny Clarks in Dublin recently reopened and although is not as good as it was is still good home cookin buffet place.

Not sure why you are drawn to Dublin. To both Abilene and Ft Wortb you are looking at 2 hours. If you are wanting to be closer to your parents but not actually in Ft Worth, I would look at Weatherford.

I got to ask what line of work or for what company? I dont remember much being there from my college days and most people drove from Dublin to Stephenville or Brownwood for work. Just curious. Once you get down there if you are needing some extra cash you can usually work at the cattle auction in Dublin on Friday and make about $150-200/day.

That entire stretch from Stephenville to Santa Anna is nice IMO.

Im in Stephenville. Only 10 minutes away from dublin...Close to decent fishing on Proctor, Leon, and Granbury. Good people. Lots of cheap acreage in surrounding area. Your choice limestone hills or sandy horse and dairy country. Oklahoma people are welcome here...keeps the dfwers where they belong.

My wife's father was born and raised in Dublin. All the kids except one left and the one uncle has gone on about 6 years ago.
He ran a dairy, had an insurance company downtown and for a while was the chief of the volunteer fire department.

His son, my wife's cousin still lives there and is in insurance. They live in one of those nice old homes on the old 67 downtown.

Nice little town but nothing goes to do there. Like has been said Stephenville is just down the road. Comanche the other way.

Do you just up and move with out going and staying there to see if your going to like it? I have often wondered how people move like that, if they rent a place for a bit to see if they are going to like it? take vacations there? or just go for it?

Dublin is a great town my grandmother lived there for a while but I don't think I would want to live there, I would probably choose Abilene, San Angelo, Granbury, maybe Weatherford! 2cents

Wife has the inside track on an inspector job there and was told the superintendent would take me on herding cattle. I don't know Jack about cows, but right now I'm selling stuff to farmers and ranchers I know nothing about anyway. grin

The next best option is San Angelo. That'd be okay too. Just hate moving. The process sux.

Living in mobilhoma has to suck way worse than moving. Even worse than moving to Dublin.

I wish I knew where all of this cheap land was when I was looking to buy some to build our house on. The cheap land I looked at was usually the worst acreage someone had that they wanted to dump for 7-10 thousand per acre.

If you come to San Angelo please bring water, lots of water.

And take it to O.H. Ivie instead of San Angelo.

Apparently there's a beef processing plant there. That's why we're maybe going.

dairy feedlots out the wazzoo...

With all that + the DP the prices at the Dublin DQ should be about the lowest imaginable.

you have to buy 20+ acres and be further outside of town. small lots and anything close to town is always a lot higher.
