Is it just me or is it hard to get your bait to appear on the screen. Im pretty good with my electronics and and have become pretty familiar with them so Ive played with sensitivity and other settings but it seems like if my line isnt a foot in front of the trollling motor head then I cant see it. Even with a one oz slab its hard to get it on the screen. I have my live scope on and the transducer is mounted in the trolling motor. Does it have to be 100% directly under the trolling motor or should I be able to see it when the bait is a few feet to the right or left in 20+ feet of water?

Ive noticed I need to be pretty much under it. But for me is just knowing the depths I can see the fish. You get pretty close seems good enough for me. With wind or waves moving you around its hard to stay right under.

Yep. It is frustrating. That is about all you are going to get. This is why I tell guys; do not keep circling your spots looking for fish. You are just going to run them off. Make one pass from deep water side scanning; if you see one or two fish stop and fish. They are there. We spend $5k for depth finders on today's market and I caught more fish back in the 80's off ledges with depth finders that would lock on immediately on a depth change from 100 ft. to 20 ft...

If you have an external transducer you can twist it to the right a little bit and you dont have to have it directly under the trolling motor anymore. Obviously would not work so well with a side imaging transducer though.

Ive heard that you can lean your transducer off to one side just a little and it will help
