heading to Port A next week and got some friends going with us, we are wanting to hire a guide for offshore but most only allow 4-6 , we have possibly 9...most likely 7 (6 adults and 1 10 year old) ....is there any guides that can take that many offshore?....trying to stay away from the big 30-40 people boat nightmares..Ive been through fishermans wharf and deep sea headquarters in the past with very poor results

Most guides only have an OUPV license (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel), which is limited to 6 passengers. You'll often hear this called a "six pack" permit or license.

For parties larger than six, you might have to find a smaller partyboat that will take private charters. But the cost will be higher.

If you know that you'll have 8 or 9, it might be worth hiring a guide service with two boats and put four people on each boat.
