Our local Waco store has been having a lot of bad hints that it may be closing, key employees gone, no new stock of heavily sold items, bringing old stuff out of stock to fill shelves. When asking employees what is going on are you closing they all answered differently, most of them with a horrible attitude. Not offering or pushing cabelas card in store anymore, that in itself is very unusual for anyone who has stepped foot in a cabelas! Found out yesterday that they are now closing out the cabelas branded rods and reels and removed all the lifetime warranty labeling from their website. Now the warranty says 90 days with receipt just like everything else, when I asked sales rep about all my previous cabelas rods that had lifetime he answered well surely Bass Pros would trade it out for something comparable. So now I'm just trying to make sure I burn up all my points that I have and wondering if all the cabelas stuff they are putting on clearance is even worth messing with. Its kind of sad, I liked cabelas and its really the only place we have here besides Academy. Maybe they will make it into a Bass Pro but that just means our prices will go up.

I've been given the same answers. The Waco store does pretty well, I would think BPS would want to keep it around. I still like Academy but the new remodel didn't make it better. And the Dick's fishing dept is a joke.

New Dicks in Prosper has Field & Stream next to it. Fishing dept. a whole lot better than just plain Dicks.

I'm sure asking an employee working the floor is going to get you an accurate answer. It's more likely that they're just transitioning to be more in line with BPS policies on products and returns. The sky isn't falling.

Ya, its just disappointing.

And it was one of the store managers that had the worst attitude and answers about the policy changes, I am guessing her and the other managers are probably the first thing Bass Pro would replace.
