Hoping to get some pros & cons that I may not have thought of.........

Have a 2015 NiTRO Z8 that has (2 weeks ago) been re-powered with the new Merc 250 Pro XS 4stroke. My initial thought was, nothing wrong with the boat & value increased by about 8K-10K with the new unit... I should keep it since I'm in a good equity position (rare for boats, lol).

Alternately, I am in a good equity position and could upgrade to a completely new boat, which would also have the new Merc on it. Going back and forth on the best decision, any thoughts out there?

??? You've got a very nice newer rig now. Boats don't change that much in 3 years so technically you've got a new rig. I don't think you'd gain much at all for the difference in cost.
But, its Your $. Unless your boat has been horribly abused/maintained (highly doubtful) you're NOT gaining. Boats are NOT assets. They ALL depreciate from the moment they leave dealership just like vehicles.
Cons
1. Trade in value not high enough to help offset price difference. You'd be on LOSING end.
2. Sell it yourself. More cash yield, but STILL not enough. Buyers try to bargain down price ANYWAY. Time it takes to sell. Headaches of dealing with tire kickers.
If you were going to think about NEW, you might actually have saved by NOT repowering & just doing it then, but, hindsight is 20/20.

Personally (me), I'd keep what you've got, fish it a year or two (enjoy it)& save more cash, THEN sell, but STILL be only a 5 yr old rig. By then, the bugs (any new motor designs can have flaws), should be worked out & solved. THEN consider NEW total rig. Sell present rig during peak buying season (February-April) privately, then go buy a new one.
But, that's just what I'd do if I had same scenario.

What is your rationale for considering a new one?

Guess I should have said that the repower upgrade was at zero cost (warranty). Nothing out of pocket for a brand new 250 PXS 4stroke. I agree with a lot of the logic here however....
