How near is near? Canyon has a few but not really "famous" for their crappie. Don't know about Bastrop or Granger. Travis has some but is huge lake to try and learn or search. LBJ is somewhat respectable. Maybe a guide?

Inks, LBJ, Austin, Below Buchanan Dam, Max Starcke Dam (if you can still get down there, caught 2 of the biggest crappie in my lifetime here), Canyon Lake (crappie docs at night under a floating light), Braunig, Caleveras, Marble Falls, Placid, Dunlap.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I really appreciate the insight. Braunig and Caleveras are a surprise for crappies. Are the crappies on the brush piles?

Good Afternoon

Cowboy#1 here, Choke canyon is a great lake especially around March and May. June can be very productive also around brush piles. 99 Bridge launch if you have a boat if not around Callihan is very good.

Granger lake has always been very productive especially around Wilson Fox park bait of choice minnows or orange crappie jigs Rated #4 in the state of Texas. Problems is anglers keep more than they are allowed. Park Ranger need to enforce.

I'll throw in a ringer. Lake Gonzales (H-4) is a good crappie lake.

Lake Wood is no longer. The dam broke two years ago and GBRA shows no signs of fixing it. Go look at it on Google Earth.
