I currently have a 998SI in the dash and a 798SI at the bow. I only have the $$ now to buy one unit.
Options:
-- bigger graph at the dash, move 998 to the bow and use it and the 798 there

-- bigger graph at dash, leave the 998 there as well, keep 798 up front

-- leave the 998 at the dash, put a bigger unit at the bow with the 798

-- stay with HB, go to lowrance or garmin? Also, recs on which model - Helix 10/12, etc.

Thanks for any and all input/advice.

If it was me I would put the 998 on the bow and get a helix 12 for the console so you can split screen for mapping and SI OR DI whichever you like most. Then when you can get another Helix 12 for the bow.
You will be good to go for many moons

Which is EXACTLY what I did. 998 up front and a Helix 12 on the dash. Both work great and enjoying getting to know the Helix. Only been out a couple of times and need to get it dialed in but it's a sweet set up.

If you can swing it move the 998 up front and put a Helix 12 Mega at the console. From a lifetime Lowrance owner, nothing has a better picture than the new Megas. Would definitely be my choice if I was swapping my two HDS12s.

Definitely agree with ChanceHuiet on putting Helix Mega 12 at console...The images on the megas are far superior!

Thanks everyone, looks like the 12 at the console and the 998 will be moved to the front.

I just switched from Ray Marine back to Humminbird. They are great units just this old bird man didn’t want to learn new system.
I will have two 12” ES and one 9” for sale as soon as I get my boat back.

Curious, do you have your helix linked up to your trolling motor?
