What's your cost for an oil change and new impeller on a 4 stroke (mine is 115HP merc)?

I almost choked when the mechanic called...

When I had a 115 Merck. I was paying 225 for oil change impeller and lower unit oil change but most places were charging 300

I don't know where you are but I'd be on the lower spectrum of things...

My dealer quoted over $400 for a Yamaha 20hr service which is nothing more than an oil/ filter, and lower unit lube. I learned how to do it pretty quick. You Tube is your friend.

The cost of the oil change kit varies widely with different motors. 115 Merc. is about 68.00. Some motors it is over 100.00

I appreciate the input. I paid $450. Just wasn't expecting it to run quite so high.

Thats an easy one hour job that would cost u about 50 dollars in parts if u didnt have to replace the whole water pump kit. it would be easier and faster to do it yourself than to take out the time and drop it off and pick up your boat. I hear alot of people complain that they dont have the time to do this kind of stuff and i just dont
get it.

That's pretty darn high... parts 100 bucks ish, hour of labor another 100 ish bucks and then maybe a little more for miscellaneous expense, that's a 225-250 dollar job max in my opinion.

If that is the Flat Rate then around here it would be 3 hours @ $100.00/hr plus the parts so $400-425.00.

I think I will be doing my own if it costs that much for mine. eeks

Shop rates in my area are $115-135/hr. and they usually mark up parts 5-10% above MSRP so when they do you a favor and give you a 10% discount for being a good customer, they have still made full price.
