I have some family moving to Georgetown and wondering if it's worth it to take the boat when we go visit?

In the Centex area, Lake Georgetown is known as "the Dead Sea."
Just sayin'...

I live in Georgetown. Tough little lake, I don't fish it very often. If you choose to fish it and get skunked don't feel bad, you're not alone.

Definitely not one of the top lakes out here. Drive to Buchanan, LBJ, Travis, Belton first

Like Jaret said, drag your boat to another lake. That lake is abysmal.

I live close to L Gtn and have fished it since 1982 - it used to put out some decent fish quantity/quality (even had smallmouth) but it's gotten very tough fishin' lake in last couple decades.
More and more jet fleas, water skiers/tube pullers, and wake boats running the lake then ever before as the local area population keeps growing. The only way to avoid most of them is to run to the upper section of the lake into whats left of the standing timber. But it's enough to keep most of the pleasure craft out of that section.
