Headed to Bastrop this weekend with my yak....is it better to put in at North or South shore for fishing? Any advice of where to go on lake and what has been working lately. Thanks!

If there is a stiff southerly wind the North ramp requires a lot of paddling to get to good fishing. From the south ramp, you can head over to the dam and park out in open water at the south end and wait for schooling action. They are typically fussy about the size of your lure, but if you have a clear topwater that you can cast for a long distance size doesn't matter. Schooling fish are pretty good sized here, expect 3lb fish! Good place to be in the heat of the day.
