Anyone know the trick for finding bass at lake lavon? Been out several times with Grandson and unable to hook one. Lavon is on his High School schedule this year (his 1st yr).

I live 10 mins from the ramp, but I've only fished Lavon since April of this year. The only decent pattern I've found was rocks. Lots of good looking cover with no fish in it. It's like half the bass on that lake live on the dam. Outside of that the lake is a mystery to me for bass. Most challenging lake I've found since moving to TX. You could solve world hunger with the crappie in that lake though.

There are some very nice fish in the flooded bushes flippin creatures baits around the brockdale area and the two pockets South of there. Fish the first break lines with a square bill and you will find them also. There is also a lot of isolated concrete and rock piles all over the lake that are holding fish.

Theres heavy flooded brush all around the lake that will hold fish pretty much year round, but theres so much of it its almost like fishing docks on a lake with a million of them, its tough to discern between any of them. Theres a ton of huge rock and brush piles in 10-15 foot all over the lake that can be phenomenal too, just gonna have to run around and use your down/side scan.

Rocks at the dam, rocks along the railroad bridge at the entrance to Mallard park cove, Rocks around East Fork park. Around the tires and the boat slips at the marinas can get you some, seen a few caught along pretty much any area with rocks like the 380 bridge and the Tickey creek bridge but not the best places. Ive caught some around the island and around the inlet cove to the power plant as well. That power plant inlet cove is deep. The water intake over by Collin Park had sone rocks and deep water and can be good too. Side scan is a big help out there wish I had it sometimes. Good luck.

We caught two fish over 5#s yesterday Crappie fishing. Both came in 17 water on the bottom around submerged timber in the mouth of coves. That being said I would agree rocks are a consistent pattern for Lavon.

There's a little, 3-bass tournament every Thursday evening on Lavon, and the winners consistently have 9-15 pounds of fish. There's bass there.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. Will try those suggestions and continue to run around the lake. Sure we'll catch something soon. Murphy's law has to apply soon?

The warmer it gets, the better you will do with deeper running cranks on the inside points. I have caught a ton of bass on that lake fishing the rocks, but my bigger fish have always come on crank baits fishing secondary points around timber. If you are looking for numbers, square bills on the rocks early and late. If you are looking for size, get off the rocks and focus on the deeper timber on distinct points.

Some solid info on this thread. You could also hire this guy for an evening. https://dfwfishingtours.com I know him personally and he fishes Lavon a lot. It would be money well spent if you want to learn how to catch bass out there. Summer is very boom or bust on Lavon. You usually have to move around quite a bit until you find them.

Goto to FaceBook and search for Lake Lavon Fishing. There's a closed group out there you can join. They're one of the frequent posters.

Couldn't agree more with some of these comments!
*This is from our experience and times on the lake, not saying it's 100% solid and true for everyone*
Early morning topwaters seem to be the most productive for us. By mid morning we change to working slightly deeper water(~6-10ft) and start working the points. Mostly being wood covered points or some with piles (brush or rock). Later the day gets, the warmer it gets - so give a few dark colored Texas rigged plastics a shot.
Of course, our game-plan changes every time we touch the water. Be mindful of the overcast/sunny days and which direction the wind is coming out of. There's a ton of these variables that play in to which color, finish (matte or shiny) we run at what times and at what depth.. No two fishing days are the same for us.
I hope this helps.
